I live in Canada where we have loonies ($ 1 coins) and toonies ($ 2 coins). I’ve been receiving a lot of $ 1 American bills lately and it got me wondering why Canada opted for coins over bills for the smaller change? All of our bills are different colours anyway ($ 5 is blue, $ 10 is purple, $ 20 is green)…

Scene is Set for a Rally in All Precious Metals says Pan American Metals of Miami
Article by Donald Hood
(1888PressRelease) Silver futures are on the rise and increased automotive demand should be bullish for platinum and palladium.
MIAMI, FL – While gold is still finding its level in the aftermath of strong discount buying, silver futures are rising in Asia today based on speculative buying, apparently supporting a bullish trend for silver also.
There are still many factors supporting a continued rally for gold. Not only is the debt crisis in Europe far from reaching any kind of satisfactory conclusion, but growth figures in the US are also disappointing and recovery in the housing market has been exceptionally slow, renewing fears of a double-dip recession. Platinum is continuing to lag behind gold, suffering from steep margin hikes, although losses in the platinum group metals may be offset by a double-digit increase in US car sales, which will increase demand.
“It is very unusual for platinum to be trading at a level so far below gold,” says Bill Hionas of Pan American Metals of . . . → Read More: Scene is Set for a Rally in All Precious Metals says Pan American Metals of Miami

Question by Alexi The One Of Metal: why is destroying american money a federal offense?
So if I took my one dollar bill and ripped it in half in front of a police officer they could charge me for breaking the law?
Thats about the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard haha. It’s only a piece of special paper in the end so why is it such a big crime to purposely dismember money?
Out of all the federal offenses I find this one the most dumb and pointless unless someone can convince me otherwise?
Best answer:
Answer by Michael RI don’t think that a cop would arrest you, but the reason that it is illegal is b/c the government does not just print notes and issue them. The dollar is backed by gold. In other words, every dollar that is printed for is accounted for against the gold standard. If the government printed money without accounting for it, it would just be a worthless piece of paper.
