Credit in a Canadian Society
Can i get credit is a phrase often repeated in households across the United States and Canada. In fact, after the great recession that has gripped North America since late 2008, the number of people asking that question, either aloud, to their attorney, accountant, bank or loan officer, friend or neighbor or to themselves has increased by a significant percentage. Of course, numbers are close to impossible to verify since there is no real reporting mechanism in place to actually tally the number of people stating can i get credit. However, it is fairly certain, with the decrease in available credit and the increase in scrutiny attendant thereto, that it’s commonly heard refrain.
Can i get credit is directly related to the decrease in available credit and the increase in scrutiny that banks, credit card companies and all other financial institutions are placing on individuals and small business owners looking to borrow money, open a credit card account or do anything in the financial sector. This is a direct result of the tightening within the credit markets. Mortgage . . . → Read More: Credit in a Canadian Society

Question by 12345: Do banks check your rolled up coins?
I am from Canada. If I roll up some coins and give them to the bank to exchange for paper money, do they check the coins?
If they check them, what method do they use? Do they weight it or do they break them up and check them one by one? I want to know if I can slip in some American coins in the rolls, because US money are not worth as much as Canadian money, so I wonder if I can make a few bucks using this method. I have a lot of US coins from traveling to the US.
Best answer:
Answer by Non-RedneckI believe they do check them. Most use weight, though I have seen some banks use counting machines.

In fact, this method of packaging is in many cases not just for the comfort of consumers, but in many cases required by law as well. In this article we will take a brief survey of some of the products in Canada, which may require the use of tamper proof seals.
What are tamper proof seals?
Tamper proofing has been around as a concept for centuries, at least since people learned to communicate by correspondence. One of the earliest forms of tamper sealing that people today are familiar with is that of the seal; a letter was sealed by a wax, possibly with an imprint of a ring or family crest put in the wax. If the seal was broken, the recipient knew someone had tampered with the mail.
Today, tamper proof sealing has gone way beyond just the wax seal, although the concept is certainly the . . . → Read More: Are There Canadian Guidelines for Tamper Evident Seal Use?

Question by RamsFan96: In a world where the Canadian dollar is worth 10 cents more than the U.S. greenback…..?
Will Americans finally accept 1 and 2 dollar coins instead of paper money, which is more costly to make and is only in existence because one state has a huge market for making the material and the other reason because americans thinking that if the U.S. dollar is paper instead of coin it has a better feel as the world’s best currency.
Well, the British Pound is worth twice as much, the Euro is a ways up and now with the Canadian dollar worth the same and as analysts are saying, soon MORE, what will you do? ( Americans )
This is a general question to americans and yes, people like me living in canada, but I think I know what we’re all thinking, buy tobbacco and alcohol for MUCH cheaper across the border, but how do americans feel now that their dollar is worth less than the Canuck Colour money??
