i have several 1957 and 1953 sliver certificates 1$ bills, can u tell me how much they are worth?

Answer by zman492For the value of the 1957 Silver Certificates, see

The United States did not issue any $ 1 Silver Certificates with a 1953 date. If you have 1963 Federal Reserve Notes they are generally worth less than the 1957 Silver Certificates, but to get a more accurate estimate you would need to specify
-the series (1963, 1963 A or 1963 B)
-an estimate of the grade
-if the serial number contains a star and
-the Federal Reserve Bank that issued it.
If, instead, you have 1935 Silver Certificates you need to specify more information to get a reasonable estimate of the value. You need to specify
-the series (1935, 1935 A … 1935 H)
-the color of the seal
-an estimate of the grade
-if the serial number contains a star and
-if there is a red “S” or “R” printed on the face

Question by treebard: Silver certificates, are they no longer backed by silver?
WIll they be worth more if the price of silver goes up
Best answer:
Answer by BD in NMSilver certificates were never backed by silver. They were however redeemable in silver coin at face value until the early 60′s when the Federal Reserve discontinued redeeming the notes. They are still worth face value and if they are in crisp uncirculated condition or at least in high grade circulated condition you can buy/sell them for more than face value in the collector market.
Their value does not correspond to the value of silver at all.

Question by troutbelli2000: I have 4 – 1953 Silver Certificates. Uncirculated, Sequential. Purple Stamp. Anyone know what they may be w?
I have several other silver certificates as well, but these 4 seem to stand out the most. Need some guidance so we don’t get ripped.
Best answer:
Answer by curtisports2Go to eBay and see if any are selling, and what they sell for in the same condition. Finding a group pf sequential bills isn’t something that happens all the time, which is why, when doing price research on eBay, you should check every week for a period of several months.
Do not go by asking prices of active items, but you can track those items to see the results.
Edit: So, if eBay is famous for ‘people paying too much’, why would ANYONE consider selling to a dealer?
