Question by Owen M: how much is a ten dollar gold certificate series of 1914 2-B
Okay, I have a ten dollar gold certificate. Its a 1914 series letter-number : 2-B I just want to know how much its worth.
Best answer:
Answer by Lake LoverYour gold certificate is worth over $ 100 if it is clean and nice and crisp, not all ‘softened up’ by circulation. If it is wrinkled, dirty, maybe has a little tear it would still probably retail around $ 50. If it is completely uncirculated and like new, it may even fetch $ 200 from an aggressive collector. Those are retail prices, by the way.
NOTE: Zman’s answer (below mine) is correct that the 1914 $ 10 face 2-b is indeed a Federal Reserve Note issued by the NY district, although it was “redeemable in gold” and is so noted on the reverse of the note. These were among the first ‘emergency currency” notes issued under the Aldrich – Vreeland Act of 1908, which addressed deficiencies in the U.S. . . . → Read More: how much is a ten dollar gold certificate series of 1914 2-B

Question by DAR: Have those hearing Ron Paul dismissed as ‘wanting to return 2 the gold standard’ wondered what he REALLY wants?
http://www.forbes.com/2010/01/07/gold-standard-fed-audit-intelligent-investing-ron-paul.html
” What should replace the Federal Reserve, if anything?
Well, ideally nothing. I’ve talked about this for a long time. It came out of the gold commission report in the 1980s. Out of the gold commission, my conclusion was we should have competing currencies, just legalize competition. That’s still my position. In the book, End the Fed, I don’t argue the case for locking the doors and closing it down. As a matter of fact, I say there should be a transition, repeal legal tenant laws and you take taxes off money, which is gold and silver. And then if the people want to use it, let them use it. If people want to get paid in paper, let them get paid in paper.
In Mexico right now you can literally have an account in silver. They’re making more progress in Mexico. And I have visited with their members of Congress. Before it all got passed, they consulted with me. Because the . . . → Read More: Have those hearing Ron Paul dismissed as ‘wanting to return 2 the gold standard’ wondered what he REALLY wants?

Question by : US 0,000 bill (“Gold Certificate”) series of 1934, with Wilson on it, is worth?
US $ 100,000 bill (“Gold Certificate”) series of 1934, with Wilson on it, is worth?
And what can one do with it?
Best answer:
Answer by JoeyVThe $ 100,000 bill was a bank transfer note and was never in general circulation. Virtually all of them were destroyed and the few remaining ones are in museums. Thus, they aren’t for sale. If you have one, it’s undoubtedly fake because there are lots of fake $ 100K bills around.

Answer by I. B. ZoxxSomeday I’m going to get tired of answering this question. This comes up an Yahoo Answers about once a month, invariably from someone in the Philippines.
The only $ 100,000 bill ever printed by the US is the Series 1934 Gold Certificate, which was only intended for transactions between banks, and is illegal for private citizens to own. It has a portrait of Woodrow Wilson on it, and is signed by Morgenthau as secretary of the treasury.
Here is a link to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing web site showing a photo of the US $ 100,000:

There are other types of the gold stamp replicas out there and they usually sell for around the same. The gold in micro thin and is only worth a few cents. They were pushed as an investment thing and are not. No one ever got back any where near what they paid for them. They are a hard sell on . . . → Read More: I have 2 books of US Gold stamp replicas…138 stamps and certificates alltogether.Any idea the value of this?

Question by ykk: How to verify gold authenticity?
I’m about to buy gold coins from a local coin shop in Seattle area. What worries me is that the coins that I’m buying do not come with any certificates or any paper verifying the authenticity. The store I’m buying from has been in business for a long time and thats really all the credibility I have about them.
So my questions are,
1) Do gold coins usually come with certificates? (Gold American Eagle, Buffalos, Maple Leafs, Krugerrands, etc…)
2) Is there any way to verify the authenticity? Should I hire an expert?
