What is Turkey Specimen vs Turkey Currency in Paper Money?

Question by NAZ: What is Turkey Specimen vs Turkey Currency in Paper Money?
Hello Collectors
I’ve been wanting to start a foreign currency collection, while browsing ebay, I noticed a huge difference in prices when the item is listed as just Turkey Lira for what ever value and when the listing carries the word SPECIMEN in it and that goes for other currencies as well… could someone please give me some hints and tips and explain why the price could be as low as a few dollars verses hundreds or sometime thousands when the listing has the word specimen in it.. and if you could direct me to what’s a good collection to have in coins or paper currency, you will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Ideas For Designing Paper And Coin Money For a Single Global Currency

Concept and history of currency

The last time world really had a single global currency, it was gold, and not a fiat currency consisting of paper. Remembering this simple fact may allow us to prepare for the single global currency in a much more effective manner.

Within the boundaries of a country, the government that controls the financial and monetary systems is accountable to the people for ensuring the value of the monetary unit. This allows the government to issue a fiat currency, and it is the backing of the government that maintains the credibility of that currency and makes it a reliable and acceptable medium. Notably, even in the financial and monetary sphere, the government itself is one of the biggest stakeholders, with stability of currency often linked with the stability of the government.

Is there a name for the paper currency that was around before the new conterfit changes?

Question by Dan W: Is there a name for the paper currency that was around before the new conterfit changes?
I’ve been collecting the 100, 50, 20, 10, and 5 dollar bills that were around prior to the security changes. The newer bills have the large face on the front instead of the small one. I was just wondering if the older bills with the smaller faces had a certain name.

What is the best paper money investment site?

Question by Belichick: What is the best paper money investment site?
I’m 16 and I want to start a few paper money (IE play money) which means a make believe account in which I can set the amount of money I have, and buy securities. Can anyone tell me which website you would recommend for doing this?

Separate question: I need a website or program that has a complete list of stocks available and provides statistics, news, and reports on companies. It would be very helpful if it allowed me to filter listings of stocks by certain statistics for instance I would be able to filter out stocks from a list that didnt have X price to earnings ratio.

This is jst a theory, but what wuld happen if the U.S. stopped making paper money and wnt to tatoo?

Question by Lauren: This is jst a theory, but what wuld happen if the U.S. stopped making paper money and wnt to tatoo?
Think about it, if the world stopped making paper money and went to a tatoo, we wouldnt cut down so many trees, nobody could steal your money, no identity theft because its on your wrists or wherever you decide to put it, no illegal transactions could take place without a scanner, and even if they had a scanner, drugs do not have a bar code.
Ok, I know its a weird idea and most of you wont like the idea of being marked like a grocery item, but still…
Just tell me what you think.

Seeing as no one’s bank account retains the same amount of money, there’s already a huge problem with your idea at conception.

Did Colonial farmers liked paper money because it lost value, making loans easier to repay?

Question by Mallory A: Did Colonial farmers liked paper money because it lost value, making loans easier to repay?
it is a true or false question, the original question is:
Colonial farmers liked paper money because it lost value, making loans easier to repay, (T or F)

Best answer:

Answer by starwars811I think it it false.
Paper money is worthless unless you have something (i.e. gold/silver) to back it up. Printing more money without having the necessary backings to make it have value leads to inflation, which drives down the value of the money. That means that you have to have more of the money to pay something off, which many of the farmers did not have. So, it actually made it harder to pay
